About the Owner and Director:

Sara Tuttle has lived in Richmond since 2009 when she graduated from the University of Richmond with a BFA in Studio Art. After years of teaching high school art and after-school programs, she received her MFA in Visual Studies from Pacific Northwest College of Art. Sara stayed at home with her two children and locally exhibited a body of work inspired by motherhood. As she became more acquainted with the Richmond art scene, she was overwhelmed by the quality of local talent. Having followed the larger art world for a while, including regular trips to visit galleries all around New York City, she found that there were many artists in Richmond whose work rivaled what was being shown in New York. She felt that Richmond needed another gallery to showcase the work of these artists, grow a wider collector base for contemporary art and contribute to the energy of the Downtown Arts District. Through Foyer, Sara is excited to foster connection to the thriving art community in the Richmond region, and beyond.
